You are dead right as usual,but he must have known he was well down Ferguson's list at the time as he was still playing for Oxford United in 1986.He probably had a chip on his shoulder as well,having been discarded by John Lyall a few years before. Did you know Alvin Martin stormed into Lyall's office to protest about him not offering Houghton a new contract? He told Lyall he was making a big mistake and he turned out to be right.
